Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016, at 11 a.m. in Martin & Castille’s La Fleur de Lis Chapel in Lafayette for Matthew Hauer Feske, age 36, who died on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016 at Lafayette General Medical Center Southwest in Lafayette.
Interment will be in Beau Pre Cemetery in Jeanerette. The Reverend Dr. Millicent Feske will officiate the services.
Survivors include his parents, Dr. Victor Feske Jr. and Barbara M. Feske of Lafayette; sister, Millicent Feske and husband Buddy; brothers Jason Hunter, Victor Feske lll and wife Anne, Steven Feske and wife Carlee; a niece Gillian Hunter and nephew Liam Hunter, numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by a cousin Carl Steven Feske; a niece Alexandra Margaret Hunter.
A resident of New Iberia and Lafayette, La. for most of his life, Matt was a loving son, grandson, uncle, brother, cousin and friend. If you were Matt’s friend, he was loyal to you forever. He was and is loved by so many. His laughter and smile were contagious. He had a heart as big as he was. Matthew never met a stranger. His presence and personality would light up the room when he entered. As much as he is loved so will he be missed.
Matt was a proud Marine. He served honorably in the Marine Corps and saw combat in Ramadi Iraq in 2004 and 2005. As proud as he was of his service, he was torn about the job they had to do.
He loved the outdoors…swimming, skiing, hunting, country music, old trucks, boiled crawfish. He loved children. They looked upon him as this big teddy bear of a man who would play with them and make them laugh. Uncle Matt will be missed.
The family will receive friends in Martin & Castille’s SOUTHSIDE location on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until time of service.
Memorial contributions can be made in Matthew Feske’s name to Marine Corp Scholarship Fund, Save A Warrior Program, or Brothers and Sisters in Arms Dog Training.
